Recipe

Add just enough water to cover the red beans, bring to a rolling boil once, then discard the first water to remove bitterness.
Add plenty of fresh water again and boil thoroughly for 40–50 minutes until the beans can be crushed between your fingers.
Mash the boiled red beans roughly with a potato masher or rolling pin, leaving some skin texture.
Season the mashed red beans with sugar and salt, then sprinkle in the gelatin powder and mix well.
Gradually pour in the milk while mixing evenly, then ladle the mixture into ice pop molds.
Insert the stick handles into the molds and freeze until solid.
To unmold, briefly wet the outside of the molds with water and gently remove the ice pops.

Blanch the red beans once, discard the water, add fresh water, and boil thoroughly.
Mix the mashed red beans with sugar, salt, gelatin, and milk until well combined.
Pour into ice pop molds and freeze until set.

Cooking tips

Discarding the first boiling water prevents bitterness and astringency.
Adding a little gelatin keeps the ice pops smooth and not icy or hard when frozen.
