Modu Recipe Privacy Policy

1. Services we provide

Modu Recipe provides a public recipe discovery website and official mobile app. General users can use the service without signing up or logging in. Only approved operators can sign in to the review management area using a one-time email link.

2. Information stored on your device

The website may store favorites, recently viewed recipes, and your display theme in browser storage. In the app, the same library information and text size are stored in WebView storage, while cooking timer names, set duration, remaining time, sound, and vibration settings are stored in app storage. This information is not sent to Modu Recipe servers or synchronized with other devices. Clearing browser site data or deleting the app also deletes the corresponding information stored on that device.

3. Cooking reviews and quick feedback

When you submit a review after making a recipe, we process your nickname, outcome, review text, selected photos (up to three), submission and processing times, and publication status. The nickname, outcome, text, and photos of approved reviews are made public on the relevant recipe page. We do not collect an email address with reviews, and every review is checked by an operator before publication.

To maintain one review and one helpful vote per browser and prevent duplicate quick-feedback submissions, we store a random browser identifier in an HttpOnly cookie for up to one year. The server stores only a SHA-256 hash of this identifier, and reviews and quick feedback are processed separately. If you report a public review, the selected reason and report and processing times are also processed with the same hash; reports are reviewed by an operator and do not automatically hide a review. Photos are normalized for orientation and size and kept in private storage. They are served only through routes available to approved reviews or authorized authors and operators. When submitting a photo, you must confirm that you have the right to publish it and that it contains no personal information such as faces or contact details.

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated submissions and abuse. In that process, IP address, browser and device information, and the security-check result may be processed. Operator sign-in uses Supabase Auth and processes approved operator email addresses and authentication sessions.

4. Access and usage analytics

We may use Google Analytics 4 to understand service stability and usage. This may process page URLs, whether the service is used in the app or on the web, general device and browser information, feature events such as saving and sharing, and error types. We do not include names, email addresses, or saved recipe lists in analytics events.

We may use Microsoft Clarity to improve how people navigate the website. Clarity may process clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, page display, performance and error information, and changes to on-screen elements to create behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replays. Cookies and pseudonymous identifiers may connect visits across pages into one session, and cookie use is limited according to consent status in regions where consent is required. Potentially sensitive content such as form fields, numbers, and email addresses is protected by Clarity masking. We do not provide names or saved recipe lists to Clarity as directly identifying information. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement for details about Microsoft's data practices.

5. Advertising and consent management

The website and the app's WebView may use Google AdSense to display ads. When ads are enabled, Google and its advertising partners may process cookies or similar storage technologies, IP address, general device and browser information, pages visited, and ad impression and interaction data to provide personalized or non-personalized ads, measure performance, and prevent abuse. Modu Recipe does not include names, email addresses, or saved recipe lists in ad requests.

In regions where consent is required, including the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we ask for choices about advertising cookies and personal-data processing through a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP). You can review or change personalized-ad choices through the consent message's settings and manage ad personalization for your Google Account in My Ad Center. 6. External services and links

Selecting links to original recipes, YouTube, Coupang Partners, or social networks may open an external app or browser, after which processing is governed by that service's privacy policy. When launched, the app may send technical information such as app platform, app version, and runtime version to Expo EAS Update to check for safe app updates. Saved recipes and timer content are not included in update requests. The Android app includes the Google Mobile Ads SDK to pass app signals to AdSense tags in the WebView and prevent invalid ad traffic. When an ad event occurs in an ad-enabled WebView, the SDK may process IP address, app and device identifiers, app and ad interactions, and diagnostic information for ad delivery, analytics, and abuse prevention. The app does not use a separate native AdMob ad placement.

7. Notifications and device features

The Android app may request notification permission so cooking timers can notify you when they finish in the background or on the lock screen. The device uses its default notification sound and vibration according to your settings; timer content and notification settings are not sent to an external server. On Android 12 or later, the app may optionally request access to Alarms & reminders so it can notify you at the intended time while the device is in power-saving mode. Timers still work without this permission, but background notifications may be delayed by operating-system power policies. Keep screen awake operates on the device only while cooking mode is enabled.

8. Security and error diagnostics

For service security and error diagnosis, server logs may process limited technical information such as page URLs, blocked external-resource URLs, and security-policy violation types. Reports are restricted to permitted fields and lengths and do not include account information or saved recipe lists.

9. Retention and deletion

You can delete favorites and recently viewed history from your library and cooking timers from each timer's settings. You can delete a review from the review area, which also removes its text, photos, helpful votes, and report information. Clearing browser site data also deletes the review identifier cookie, so you may no longer be able to edit or delete an existing review directly; in that case, you can request deletion by email below. Removing the app deletes information stored by the app. Moderation records and inquiry emails are kept only as long as needed to handle disputes and meet legal obligations.
