Recipe 🍳
- Wash the rice thoroughly. Finely dice the onion, bacon, green onion, and carrot for the fried rice.
- Spread the washed rice evenly on the bottom of the rice cooker inner pot. Top with the diced onion, bacon, green onion, and carrot, scattering them evenly.
- Add cooking oil, ketchup, oyster sauce, and water. Before pressing the cook button, gently mix everything with a spatula so the seasoning is well distributed.
- Place the inner pot in the rice cooker and start cooking on the regular white rice setting for the omurice rice.
- While the rice cooks, lightly oil a frying pan, add a pinch of seasoned salt to beaten eggs, and cook a soft, thin egg crepe.
- In a small pan, combine water, tonkatsu sauce, ketchup, butter, and corn syrup. Stir over heat until simmering to make a sweet and tangy sauce.
- Once the rice cooker finishes, shape the ketchup fried rice in a bowl, then carefully place the egg crepe on top.
- Generously pour the prepared omurice sauce over the egg crepe and sprinkle with parsley powder to finish.
- Place rice, diced bacon, vegetables, cooking oil, ketchup, oyster sauce, and water in the rice cooker. Gently mix before starting the white rice cooking cycle.
- While cooking, prepare a salted egg crepe in a pan, and simmer tonkatsu sauce, ketchup, and butter to make the special sauce.
- Top the cooked ketchup rice with the soft egg crepe, pour over the sauce, and sprinkle with parsley.
Cooking tips 💡
- Before pressing the cook button, it's essential to gently mix everything so the ketchup and oyster sauce are not clumped between the rice grains.
- If you don't like the strong tanginess of ketchup, you can omit it during the rice cooking stage and later increase the amount of special sauce served on the side.
