Ttukdak Hyung's Garlic Butter Takoyaki

  • frozen takoyaki 15~20 pieces
  • teriyaki sauce a little
  • mayonnaise a little
  • katsuobushi a little (optional)
  • sliced green onion a little
  • melted butter 2 tbsp
  • minced garlic 1 tbsp
  • sugar 1 tbsp
  • dried parsley a little
  • milk 1/2 cup (for cheese sauce)
  • cheddar cheese 2 slices (for cheese sauce)
  • Sriracha sauce 1 tbsp (for cheese sauce)
  • myeongran jeot 1 tbsp (for myeongran mayo)
  • mayonnaise 3 tbsp (for myeongran mayo)
  • sugar 0.5 tbsp (for myeongran mayo)

Recipe 🍳

  1. Put frozen takoyaki in an air fryer and cook according to package directions until the surface is crispy.
  2. Mix 2 tbsp melted butter, 1 tbsp minced garlic, 1 tbsp sugar, and a little dried parsley in a microwave-safe bowl to make a sweet and savory homemade garlic sauce.
  3. Generously spoon the garlic sauce over the cooked takoyaki, then return to the air fryer and cook briefly until the garlic aroma is fragrant and the tops are golden.
  4. Drizzle teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise over the finished takoyaki, then top generously with sliced green onion instead of katsuobushi.
  1. Air fry frozen takoyaki until crispy according to package directions.
  2. Mix melted butter, minced garlic, sugar, and parsley to make garlic sauce.
  3. Top takoyaki with garlic sauce, air fry once more, then drizzle with sauce and sprinkle green onion.

Cooking tips 💡

  • Instead of katsuobushi, top with plenty of thinly sliced fresh green onion to cut the richness nicely.
  • Boil milk, cheddar cheese, and Sriracha to make a spicy cheddar cheese sauce; mix myeongran, mayonnaise, and sugar for myeongran mayo sauce. Enjoy them as dipping sauces.
