A savory and soft steamed egg made in just 3 minutes with a microwave and a slice of cheese, with no need to control the heat

🙋 Recommended for

  • Those who find it bothersome to cook over a flame or want to minimize cooking tools
  • Those who want a quick and easy protein side dish during a busy morning

Ingredients needed 🛒1 servings

  • 2 eggs
  • water up to 70% of the bowl's height
  • a pinch of seasoned salt
  • 1 slice of cheese

Recipe 🍳

  1. Crack 2 eggs into a microwave-safe bowl or container.
  2. Add seasoned salt to taste, pour water up to 70–80% of the container’s height, and beat the eggs well.
  3. To enhance the savory flavor, roughly tear 1 slice of cheese and place it on top of the egg mixture.
  4. Cover the container with plastic wrap and poke one or two holes with a chopstick to allow steam to escape.
  5. Microwave for about 3 minutes.
  6. Take out the gyeranjjim with the cheese gently melted and enjoy it while warm.
  1. Put eggs, seasoned salt, and water in a microwave-safe bowl and mix.
  2. Tear the sliced cheese and place it on top, cover with plastic wrap, and poke holes.
  3. Microwave for 3 minutes to finish.

Cooking tips 💡

  • Since the cheese adds a subtle saltiness as it blends with the egg mixture, you can use less salt than usual.
  • Cooking speed may vary depending on microwave power, so if it’s not fully cooked after 3 minutes, microwave in additional 30-second increments.
