Solo Cooking God's Meat Sauce Steamed Cabbage

A sophisticated dish perfect for guests, featuring tender steamed cabbage in the microwave topped generously with a sweet-savory meat sauce

🙋 Recommended for

  • Those who want to serve an impressive one-dish meal with minimal stove use and just basic microwave operation
  • Anyone eager to experience the luxurious harmony of sweet, tender cabbage hearts and a salty-savory meat sauce

Ingredients needed 🛒2 servings

  • cabbage 1/2 head
  • pork belly 20g
  • green onion a little
  • soy sauce 1 tablespoon
  • pork cutlet sauce 2 tablespoons
  • sugar 1 tablespoon
  • vinegar 1 tablespoon
  • water 4 tablespoons
  • sesame seeds a little

Recipe 🍳

  1. Cut the cabbage lengthwise into two halves, then each half into two more pieces, resulting in four equal sections. Carefully remove the tough core from the bottom part with a knife.
  2. Place the prepared cabbage in a microwave-safe dish and lightly sprinkle water on top to retain moisture.
  3. Cover the dish with its lid and microwave for 5 minutes, until the fragrant aroma fills the air and the cabbage is tender.
  4. Finely chop the frozen pork belly and green onion together using a knife.
  5. Mix the minced pork and green onion with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 tablespoons pork cutlet sauce, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon vinegar, and 3–4 tablespoons water to make the sauce.
  6. Cover the sauce bowl with plastic wrap, poke a few holes, and microwave for 3 minutes, or alternatively heat it in a pan over low heat until the meat is cooked through.
  7. Pour the warm, finished meat sauce generously over the steamed cabbage, then sprinkle sesame seeds on top to finish.
  1. Prepare the cabbage by cutting it lengthwise into thin strips, place in a microwave-safe dish, add a splash of water, and microwave for 5 minutes until soft.
  2. Combine minced pork belly and green onion with soy sauce, pork cutlet sauce, sugar, vinegar, and water; cook in the microwave or on the stove until ready.
  3. Pour the hot sauce generously over the cabbage and finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Cooking tips 💡

  • You can substitute pork belly with any leftover ground meat or bacon. If no meat is available, skip it and just prepare the sauce—it still tastes great.
  • While the cabbage steams for 5 minutes in the microwave, quickly prepare the sauce nearby to significantly reduce total cooking time.
