Ingredients needed 🛒2 servings
- whole pork belly 500g
- onion 1
- green onion 1 stalk
- gochujang 1 heaping tbsp
- oyster sauce 2 tbsp
- gochugaru 2 tbsp
- minced garlic 1 tbsp
- sugar 2 tbsp
- vinegar 2 tbsp
- pepper a pinch
Recipe 🍳
- Make deep cuts along the sides of the whole pork belly so the seasoning can penetrate well.
- Place the meat in a bowl and add 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp minced garlic, 2 tbsp vinegar, and a pinch of pepper. Massage the meat thoroughly for the first seasoning.
- Add 1 heaping tbsp gochujang, 2 tbsp oyster sauce, and 2 tbsp gochugaru. Knead the meat until the red seasoning is evenly coated all over.
- Cut the onion and green onion into thick slices and spread them generously on the bottom of a microwave-safe container.
- Place the seasoned pork belly on top of the vegetables, and spread any remaining seasoning over the surface of the meat.
- Cover with the dedicated lid and microwave for 15 minutes.
- Remove and let cool slightly. Slice into bite-sized pieces and serve together with the onion and green onion from the bottom.
- Score the whole pork belly and marinate it first with sugar, garlic, vinegar, and pepper.
- Add gochujang, oyster sauce, and gochugaru; mix well, then place on thickly sliced onion and green onion.
- Cover with a microwave-safe lid and cook for 15 minutes, then slice and serve.
Cooking tips 💡
- Be sure to use a sturdy microwave-specific lid, not plastic wrap, as the oil can splatter and melt the wrap or dirty the microwave.
- The vinegar in the seasoning does not leave a sour taste; it perfectly eliminates the meaty smell.
