Ingredients needed 🛒1 servings
- store-bought udon 1 pack
- beef for bulgogi 150g
- shiitake mushroom 1 piece
- minced garlic 1 tablespoon
- sugar 0.5 tablespoon
- tonkatsu sauce 1 tablespoon
- water 1.5 cups
Recipe 🍳
- Slice 1 shiitake mushroom thinly and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine 150g beef, sliced shiitake mushrooms, 1 tablespoon minced garlic, 0.5 tablespoon sugar, and 1 tablespoon tonkatsu sauce.
- Add the entire liquid seasoning packet from the store-bought udon to the mixture and mix well to create the bulgogi marinade.
- Heat a pan and cook the marinated bulgogi until fully done, stirring frequently for even browning.
- Remove a small portion of the cooked bulgogi to use as garnish, setting it aside in a separate bowl.
- Pour 1.5 cups of water directly into the same pan used for cooking the beef, add the udon noodles, and bring to a boil until the broth is rich and the noodles are cooked through.
- Transfer the noodles and broth to a serving bowl, then generously top with the reserved bulgogi to finish.
- Mix beef with sliced shiitake mushrooms, minced garlic, sugar, tonkatsu sauce, and the udon liquid seasoning packet.
- Sauté the seasoned beef in a pan, reserving a portion for garnish.
- Add water and udon noodles to the same pan, boil until cooked, then top with the sautéed beef to serve.
Cooking tips 💡
- If beef is unavailable, substitute with thinly sliced pork loin or back bacon for equally delicious results.
- The udon liquid seasoning packet already contains balanced saltiness and umami, making it an excellent base for the meat marinade and instantly adding depth of flavor.
