Okjubu's Medicinal Rice Balls

  • Glutinous rice 2 cups
  • Red dates 10 pieces
  • Chestnuts 8 pieces
  • Raisins 1 handful
  • Black sugar 1 cup
  • Soy sauce 3 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon powder 1 teaspoon
  • Water 2 cups

Recipe 🍳

  1. Wash glutinous rice thoroughly, then drain completely using a colander.
  2. Remove seeds from red dates and cut into bite-sized pieces; halve chestnuts according to size.
  3. In a bowl, mix the required amount of water, black sugar, soy sauce, and cinnamon powder until the black sugar is fully dissolved to make the seasoning mixture.
  4. Place the prepared glutinous rice into the inner pot of the electric rice cooker, then evenly pour the seasoning mixture over it.
  5. Evenly arrange the prepared chestnuts, red dates, and raisins on top of the rice.
  6. Select the 'Jasmine Rice' or regular cooking function on the rice cooker and cook.
  7. Once cooking is complete, gently stir with a spatula, transfer to a mold, cool, then cut into convenient serving sizes.

  2. Mix water, black sugar, soy sauce, and cinnamon powder to make the seasoning sauce.
  3. Add all ingredients and seasoning to the rice cooker and cook.
  4. After cooking, mix well and shape into desired form, then cool.
