Ingredients needed 🛒2 servings

  • Shrimp 15 pieces
  • Garlic 15 cloves
  • Green onion 1 stalk
  • Red chili pepper 1
  • Cheongyang chili pepper 1
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Flavored soy sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Brewed soy sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Cooking oil, generous amount

Recipe 🍳

  1. Roughly chop the garlic into not too fine pieces, and thinly slice the green onion and chili peppers.
  2. In a pan, add a generous amount of cooking oil and fry the chopped garlic over medium heat, stirring, until golden brown.
  3. Once the garlic is golden, strain it through a sieve to separate the fragrant garlic oil and the crispy fried garlic.
  4. In the pan, add an appropriate amount of the reserved garlic oil, and sauté the green onion and chili peppers until fragrant and slightly golden.
  5. Add the prepared shrimp to the pan and stir-fry quickly over high heat along with the green onion and chili peppers.
  6. When the shrimp turn pink and are almost cooked, add the sugar, flavored soy sauce, and brewed soy sauce; stir-fry while reducing until the flavors are well absorbed.
  7. Once the shrimp are fully cooked, turn off the heat, add plenty of the reserved fried garlic, and toss gently to combine. Serve.
  1. Fry chopped garlic in oil to separate into garlic oil and crispy garlic crunch.
  2. Sauté green onion, chili peppers, and shrimp in garlic oil, then season with soy sauce and sugar.
  3. Turn off the heat and generously toss in the fried garlic crunch before plating.

Cooking tips 💡

  • If you fry the garlic over high heat, it will burn quickly and turn bitter, so you must fry it over medium heat or lower until golden.
  • The strained garlic oil is full of flavor and can be used for other stir-fries or pasta dishes.
  • Only add the garlic crunch at the end after turning off the heat to preserve its crispy texture.
