Cooking tips

  • Use thinly sliced bulgogi-style beef to ensure it's tender and absorbs the sauce well. You can also use thinly sliced frank sausages or ham that children like instead of beef.
  • The basic ratio for soy sauce and sugar is 1:1. After adjusting to 1:1, if you want less sweetness, adjust the sugar amount to your preference next time.
  • If using rice cakes that haven't been soaked or frozen rice cakes, add plenty of water, reduce the heat, and simmer for a long time to soften the inside of the rice cakes.
  • If you want a deep brown color like in restaurants or on TV, you can add about half a teaspoon of dark soy sauce (Laochao) or edible caramel sauce to enhance the visual appeal.

Recommended for

  • Those who enjoy tteokbokki dishes with a mild, sweet, and savory flavor.
  • Those who want to deliciously use up leftover vegetables and bulgogi-style beef from their refrigerator.
