Cooking tips
- If you remove the stems before washing, water can get inside the strawberries and reduce their sweetness, so always wash first, then remove the stems.
- Use a sufficiently large, deep pot to prevent boiling over, and use a coated pot or an enameled cauldron-style pot to prevent sticking.
- To reduce sweetness further, you can use only 200–250g of raw sugar, but the color and viscosity will be weaker and the shelf life shorter, so consume quickly. For a thicker jam, you can increase the raw sugar to 400g.
- If the strawberries are fresh, leaving them at room temperature for about a day to ripen will make them sweeter.
Recommended for
- Those who want to make homemade jam that is not too sweet and has a rich strawberry flavor.
- Those who find the excessive sugar content in store-bought strawberry jam burdensome.
- Those who want to enjoy healthy homemade jam by adjusting the sugar amount to their taste.
