  • onion 1 large
  • a pinch of salt
  • a pinch of pepper
  • generous spoonful of soybean paste 1 tablespoon
  • tonkatsu sauce 1 tablespoon
  • sugar 1/2 tablespoon
  • sprouts 1 pack (full handful)

  • sesame seeds a little

  2. Slice 1 large onion into strips and add it on top of the pork.
  3. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and a little pepper over the pork and onion for seasoning.
  4. Stir-fry over high heat until the surface of the pork and onion turn evenly browned.

  7. Stir-fry quickly over high heat for about 30 seconds to ensure the seasonings are well combined.
  8. Garnish with sliced green onion or scallion for a fresh, crisp appearance.
  9. Finish by sprinkling sesame seeds once more.
  1. Heat a little vegetable oil in a pan, then stir-fry seasoned pork and sliced onion over high heat.
  2. When browned, add soybean paste, tonkatsu sauce, sugar, and sprouts.
  3. Stir-fry quickly over high heat for 30 seconds, then finish with green onion and sesame seeds.

Cooking tips 💡

  • The depth of flavor in the final dish depends greatly on whether you season the meat before cooking, so always do a quick marinate first.
  • If using a fatty cut like pork belly, you can skip adding oil initially.
  • Do not overcook the sprouts after adding them, as they will lose moisture and wilt; cook them quickly over high heat for no more than 30 seconds to keep them crisp.
