Ingredients needed 🛒1 servings
- 1 potato
- 1 handful cabbage
- 2 slices bread
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 slices cheese
- 1/2 tomato
- 1/2 avocado
- ketchup (as needed)
- olive oil (a little)
- salt (a little)
- pepper (a little)
Recipe 🍳
- Using a grater or mandoline, thinly shred the potato and cabbage.
- Season the shredded vegetables with salt and pepper, then mix well.
- Heat a pan with a little olive oil, add the vegetables, and shape into a thick, round patty. Cook until golden brown on both sides.
- While the vegetables are cooking, melt butter on the edge of the pan for extra flavor, and place the bread slices in the empty space to toast.
- Place 2 slices of cheese on top of the cooked vegetable patty and let it melt naturally with the residual heat.
- Spread ketchup evenly on one side of the toasted bread, then layer the cheesy vegetable patty, sliced tomato, and avocado. Cover with the other bread slice to finish.
- Thinly shred the potato and cabbage.
- Season with salt and pepper, then pan-fry the vegetables into a thick patty.
- Toast the bread with butter, then top the vegetable patty with cheese.
- Spread ketchup on the bread, layer with the vegetable patty, tomato, and avocado to complete.
Cooking tips 💡
- If the heat is too high, the outside may burn while the inside remains undercooked. Cook gently over medium-low heat.
- After toasting, stand the bread slices slightly apart to keep the heat in and maintain crispiness longer.
- Adding avocado gives the old-school sandwich a richer, creamier flavor with a touch of elegance.
