Ingredients needed 🛒2 servings
- potato, appropriate amount
- Spam, appropriate amount
- 2 tbsp starch powder
- mozzarella cheese, to taste
- generous amount of cooking oil
- a little honey
Recipe 🍳
- Cut the potato and Spam into appropriately sized pieces, place them in a microwave-safe container, and microwave for about 5 minutes until cooked.
- Put the cooked potato and Spam in a bowl and roughly mash them with a tool. Do not mash too finely; break only the large chunks to preserve texture.
- Add 2 tablespoons of starch powder and mozzarella cheese as desired to the mashed mixture, and mix evenly to form a batter.
- Heat a pan, add a generous amount of cooking oil, and place the batter on it, spreading it into a thick shape.
- Cook over controlled heat until the bottom is golden and crispy, then flip and cook the other side until golden as well.
- Transfer to a plate and finish by drizzling sweet honey as desired.
- Microwave the potato and Spam for 5 minutes, then roughly mash.
- Add 2 tablespoons of starch powder and mozzarella cheese to make a batter.
- In a generously oiled pan, spread the batter thickly, cook until golden on both sides, and serve with honey.
Cooking tips 💡
- Mashing the potato too finely reduces the chewy texture, so it's best to break it only into large chunks.
- The Spam already contains fat and seasoning, so the dish tastes salty without adding extra salt.
- Dipping the finished pancake in sweet honey or oligosaccharide enhances the flavor balance.
