Ingredients needed 🛒2 servings
- spinach (bigeumcho) 1 bunch
- green onion 1/4 stalk
- minced garlic 1 tablespoon
- salt a pinch
- sesame oil 1 tablespoon
- corn syrup 1 tablespoon
- red pepper powder 1 tablespoon
- MSG a pinch (optional)
Recipe 🍳
- Wash fresh bigeumcho spinach thoroughly and remove all moisture completely. Place in a mixing bowl.
- Add finely chopped green onion and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic.
- Season with salt, then drizzle with sesame oil. Add a small amount of MSG for extra savoriness if desired.
- Add a small amount of corn syrup to balance the spinach’s bitterness and enhance shine.
- Gently mix in red pepper powder until just enough color appears, then lightly toss to evenly distribute the dressing.
- Add washed raw spinach to a bowl with green onion and minced garlic.
- Season with salt, sesame oil, red pepper powder, and optionally MSG.
- Add a touch of corn syrup for shine and sweetness, then gently toss to combine.
Cooking tips 💡
- Avoid pressing too hard on the spinach as it may release a strong grassy odor; gently handle with fingertips.
- Adding a small amount of corn syrup helps neutralize the natural bitterness and gives the salad a glossy, appetizing sheen.
