Cooking tips

  • Adding 1 tbsp cooking oil to the sauce gives the broth a rich body and gloss, making it taste like store-bought tteokbokki.
  • Cooking the rice cakes in the broth made from large green onion, Korean fish cake (eomuk), sugar, salt, and garlic before adding the sauce helps the seasoning penetrate the rice cakes.
  • After adding the sauce, simmer gently over low heat for at least 4 minutes instead of high heat so the savory flavors of the green onion and Korean fish cake (eomuk) meld well with the broth and rice cakes.

Recommended for

  • Those who have struggled to get the flavor right when making tteokbokki at home.
  • Those who love the sweet, salty, and thick tteokbokki sold in front of old schools or markets.
  • Those who want to cook easily with a foolproof sauce combination.
