Heat olive oil in a pot, then sauté ground pork until all moisture has evaporated and it turns golden brown.
Add minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the cooked pork, and sear until a Maillard reaction develops. Then mix in marinara sauce in a 1:1 ratio.
Stir in oregano, pumpkin seeds, paprika powder, and crushed red pepper. Tear fresh basil and add generously, then simmer briefly to complete the ragù sauce.
Generously coat the bottom and rim of an oven-safe dish with olive oil to ensure the cheese releases cleanly after baking.
Line the inside of the dish tightly with about 300g of Monterey Jack cheese, leaving no gaps.
Place whole button mushrooms on top of the cheese, then pour 400g of prepared pork ragù sauce over them, filling the dish completely.
On a floured surface, stretch the pizza dough to a size large enough to cover the dish. Place it over the dish like a lid, pressing the edges down about 3cm to seal tightly.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown.
Flip the finished pizza pot pie onto a serving plate, slowly lift off the dish, and enjoy by scraping everything—dough and all—with a spoon.
Sauté ground pork until dry, then mix in marinara sauce, seasonings, fresh basil, and create a thick ragù sauce.
Layer the oven dish with cheese, button mushrooms, and ragù sauce, packing each layer tightly.
Cover the dish with stretched pizza dough, sealing the edges, then bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes and serve upside down.
Cooking tips 💡
When cooking the ground pork, leave a small space in the center to help evaporate excess moisture quickly and achieve a drier, crispier texture.
Be generous with olive oil on the rim and inner walls of the dish to ensure the cheese separates cleanly after baking.
Mozzarella tends to become rubbery when cooled, so we recommend Monterey Jack for a creamier, smoother melt.
If using an air fryer, the top crust may burn—check halfway through and reduce temperature to 160–180 degrees Celsius if needed.
