Ingredients needed 🛒2 servings

  • pork 80g
  • squid 1/2 piece
  • shrimp 6 pieces
  • onion 1/2 medium
  • bell pepper 1/2 medium
  • shiitake mushroom 2 pieces
  • green onion 1/2 bunch
  • minced garlic 1 tablespoon
  • chili oil 2 tablespoons
  • light soy sauce 1 tablespoon
  • oyster sauce 1 tablespoon
  • chicken stock 1 teaspoon
  • red pepper powder 1 tablespoon
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • water starch 3 tablespoons
  • rice 2 bowls

Recipe 🍳

  1. Slice the onion, bell pepper, and shiitake mushrooms thinly, and chop the green onion finely.
  2. Cut the pork and squid into bite-sized pieces for easy eating.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of chili oil in a pan, add the pork and stir-fry until browned. Then add the chopped green onion, minced garlic, and sliced onion, and stir-fry together to release aroma.
  4. Once the seasonings and meat are well combined, pour 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce around the edge of the pan to create a smoky, charred flavor.
  5. Add the remaining vegetables (bell pepper, mushrooms), squid, and shrimp, and stir-fry quickly over high heat.
  6. When the ingredients are partially cooked, add water just enough to cover them and bring to a boil.
  7. Add oyster sauce, chicken stock, red pepper powder, and ground black pepper, adjusting seasoning to taste for spiciness.
  8. As the broth begins to bubble, gradually add the water-starch mixture in 2–3 portions, stirring continuously, to achieve a thick, cohesive consistency.
  9. Place a generous serving of the spicy seafood and meat stir-fry sauce over a bowl of warm rice to finish.
  1. Cut vegetables, pork, and squid into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Heat chili oil in a pan, then stir-fry pork, green onion, garlic, and onion. Add light soy sauce along the edge to develop a smoky flavor.
  3. Add the remaining seafood and vegetables, stir-fry, then add water and season with oyster sauce, red pepper powder, and other seasonings.
  4. Adjust thickness using water-starch, then serve over rice.

Cooking tips 💡

  • Pouring soy sauce along the edge of the pan helps recreate the deep, smoky flavor typical of Chinese restaurants at home.
  • Adding water-starch all at once may cause lumps, so add it gradually while lowering heat or stirring continuously to ensure a smooth, thick sauce.
