Okjubu's Perilla Leaf Tofu Wrap

Ingredients needed 🛒2 servings

  • tofu 1 block
  • perilla leaves 10~15 leaves
  • soy sauce (or seasoned soy sauce) 2 tablespoons
  • water 2 tablespoons
  • minced garlic 1 tablespoon
  • red pepper powder 2 tablespoons
  • sesame oil 1 teaspoon
  • onion 1/4 small

Recipe 🍳

  1. Cut the tofu in half, then slice into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Wash the perilla leaves thoroughly, remove excess moisture, and trim the stems.
  3. Place one piece of sliced tofu onto a perilla leaf and roll it up tightly; arrange on a serving plate.
  4. Chop the onion finely and prepare.
  5. Mix chopped onion, soy sauce, water, minced garlic, red pepper powder, and sesame oil to make the seasoning sauce.
  6. Generously spoon the prepared sauce over the rolled tofu wraps to finish.
  1. Slice tofu into bite-sized pieces and wrap with perilla leaves.
  2. Prepare a spicy seasoning sauce using chopped onion, soy sauce, red pepper powder, and other seasonings.
  3. Top the perilla-wrapped tofu with plenty of the sauce to finish.

Cooking tips 💡

  • Gently pat the tofu dry with a kitchen towel before wrapping to prevent the sauce from sliding off.
  • Using seasoned soy sauce enhances depth of flavor, and you can optionally add minced green chili peppers based on preference.
