A premium toast that revives memories of street-side toast, enhanced with a crisp texture and a sweet-savory homemade onion mayonnaise sauce

🙋 Recommended for

  • Those who want to recreate nostalgic street-side cabbage toast at home in a cleaner, more upscale way
  • Those eager to try a unique, creamy, addictive sauce based on mayonnaise and onion instead of ketchup

Ingredients needed 🛒2 servings

  • bread 4 slices
  • egg 4 pieces
  • carrot a little
  • cabbage a little
  • sliced cheese 4 to 8 slices
  • sliced ham 4 slices
  • onion 1/4 (about 50g)
  • mayonnaise 200g
  • sugar 10g
  • honey 3 tablespoons
  • vegetable oil a little

Recipe 🍳

  1. Toast the bread on a heated pan or toaster until golden brown on both sides.
  2. Cut the carrot and cabbage for toast into a suitable size for a satisfying crunch.
  3. In a blender, combine 1/4 onion, 200g mayonnaise, 10g sugar, and 3 tablespoons honey. Blend until smooth to make the sauce.
  4. In a bowl, beat 4 eggs and mix in the chopped carrot and cabbage.
  5. Heat a pan with oil, then pour the egg and vegetable mixture onto it, shaping it into a thick square to match the bread size.
  6. Generously spread the prepared onion mayonnaise sauce on both inner sides of the toasted bread.
  7. On top of the sauced bread, layer the cooked egg patty, sliced cheese, and sliced ham according to preference.
  8. Cover with the remaining bread, then cut in half into bite-sized portions to finish.
  1. Toast the bread until golden and thinly slice the carrot and cabbage.
  2. Blend onion, mayonnaise, sugar, and honey in a blender to make a sweet-savory onion mayo sauce.
  3. Mix the vegetables into beaten eggs, cook into a square patty, and assemble between bread with sauce, egg, cheese, and ham.

Cooking tips 💡

  • The onion mayonnaise sauce already has enough soft sweetness, so there's no need to sprinkle extra sugar on the bread for balanced flavor.
  • For best results, place the cheese directly on the hot egg patty so it melts smoothly and stays moist.
  • For a richer experience, increase the amount of cheese and ham to enjoy a double-layered toast.
