- 3 teaspoons coffee powder

- 1/2 cup sugar
Recipe 🍳
- Sift together the rice flour and coffee powder through a fine-mesh strainer to achieve a fine, even texture.
- Gradually add hot water to the flour mixture, kneading until a smooth, brown-hued dough forms.
- Lightly crush the roasted sesame seeds in a mortar, then mix with an equal amount of sugar to create the filling.
- Pinch off chestnut-sized pieces of dough, shape into rounds, make an indentation in the center, and generously fill with the sesame mixture.
- Pinch the dough closed around the filling, then shape into half-moons or cute little balls.
- Place the songpyeon in a steamer set over boiling water and steam evenly for about 15–20 minutes.
- Rinse the steamed songpyeon briefly in cold water, drain well, and coat lightly with sesame oil to finish.
- Mix rice flour with coffee powder and make a hot-water dough.
- Combine crushed sesame seeds and sugar, fill the dough, and shape.
- Steam for 15 minutes, rinse in cold water, and coat with sesame oil.
Cooking tips 💡
- Using decaffeinated coffee powder allows children and those sensitive to caffeine to enjoy it without worry.
- When making hot-water dough, do not add all the water at once; add it little by little while checking the dough's consistency to avoid ruining it.
