Ingredients needed 🛒1 servings

  • Squid 1 whole
  • Abalone 2 pieces
  • Dried shiitake mushrooms 2 pieces
  • Bamboo shoots 1/2 piece
  • Broccoli 1/4 head
  • Green onion 1 bunch
  • Minced garlic 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil as needed
  • Soy sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Oyster sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper a pinch
  • Starch slurry a little
  • Toasted sesame oil 1 teaspoon

Recipe 🍳

  1. Trim the stems from the dried shiitake mushrooms and cut each into four pieces; slice the bamboo shoots into bite-sized chunks.
  2. Cut the green onion into large pieces for stir-frying, and prepare the broccoli, abalone, and squid into manageable bite-sized portions.
  3. Blanch the prepared seafood and vegetables in boiling water for a brief moment, then remove and set aside.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a pan, let it warm up, then pour it out and add fresh oil. Sauté the chopped green onions and garlic until fragrant.
  5. Once the aroma of the onions rises, add soy sauce around the edges to enhance the fragrance, then add all the blanched ingredients and stir-fry together.
  6. After the ingredients are sufficiently cooked, add water or broth to reach about one-third the height of the ingredients.
  7. Add oyster sauce and black pepper to adjust seasoning, then bring to a boil.
  8. Gradually add the starch slurry while stirring to achieve the desired thickness, then drizzle toasted sesame oil over the rice and serve.
  1. Cut vegetables and seafood into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Blanch the prepared ingredients briefly in boiling water and drain.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, sauté green onions and garlic, then add soy sauce to build aroma.
  4. Add the blanched ingredients and stir-fry, then season with water, oyster sauce, and black pepper.
  5. Adjust consistency with starch slurry and finish by drizzling sesame oil over the rice.

Cooking tips 💡

  • Do not add the starch slurry all at once—add it gradually while stirring to prevent clumping.
  • Pre-blanching ingredients before cooking at home reduces moisture release and shortens cooking time.
