Ingredients needed 🛒4 servings

  • 1 block tofu
  • a little onion
  • a little green onion
  • 2 cheongyang chili peppers
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tbsp chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • generous amount of sesame seeds
  • a little sesame oil

Recipe 🍳

  1. Place 1 block of tofu in a microwave-safe container and cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. Add the soy sauce, sugar, water, chicken stock, vinegar, and minced garlic to the container with the tofu, according to the specified amounts.
  3. Close the lid, shake gently to mix the seasonings evenly, then microwave for 2 minutes.
  4. While the tofu cooks, finely chop the onion, green onion, and cheongyang chili pepper.
  5. Add the chopped vegetables and a generous amount of sesame seeds to the microwaved dubu-jang, mix, then let it marinate in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours.
  1. Place the cubed tofu and all seasoning ingredients in a microwave-safe container and microwave for 2 minutes.
  2. Add plenty of chopped vegetables and sesame seeds, mix, then let marinate in the refrigerator.
  3. Generously spoon the dubu-jang and its sauce over freshly cooked rice, drizzle with sesame oil, and mix well to eat.

Cooking tips 💡

  • Chopping the vegetables during the 2 minutes while the tofu microwaves can dramatically cut down the overall cooking time.
  • The seasoning isn't overly salty, so on busy mornings, you can pour the sauce generously over rice and enjoy it like a rice bowl.
