Ingredients needed 🛒1 servings
- frozen dumplings 8–10 pieces (plus 1 additional dumpling for seasoning)
- green onions 1 bunch
- minced garlic 1 tablespoon
- oyster sauce 2 tablespoons
- sugar 1 tablespoon
- red pepper flakes 1 tablespoon
- sesame seeds 1 tablespoon
- vegetable oil 5 tablespoons
- water 1 cup
Recipe 🍳
- Arrange frozen dumplings in a microwave-safe container or steamer without overlapping, then pour in 1 cup of water.
- Cover with a microwave-safe lid that has holes or wrap with plastic wrap, then microwave for 4 minutes to steam the dumplings until tender and moist.
- Heat 5 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pan, then add only the white parts of the chopped green onions and finely chop them directly in the pan.
- Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes, and 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds to the pan with the chopped green onions. Add the additional dumpling, which has been finely chopped with scissors.
- Once the oil begins to gently bubble, quickly stir-fry over medium heat to prevent burning, creating a homemade green onion chili oil.
- When the seasoning oil is well-cooked and slightly thickened, turn off the heat completely, then transfer the steamed, moist dumplings into the pan.
- Use residual heat to evenly coat the dumplings with the sauce, then sprinkle the green parts of the green onions as garnish.
- Place dumplings and water in a bowl, then microwave for 4 minutes until soft and moist.
- In a pan, add vegetable oil, white parts of chopped green onions, minced garlic, all seasonings, and the additional dumpling, crushed with a knife, then stir-fry to make chili oil.
- Turn off the heat completely, add the steamed dumplings, toss thoroughly to coat evenly with the sauce, and sprinkle the green parts of the green onions on top.
Cooking tips 💡
- Adding a chopped dumpling to the chili oil mixture enhances the sauce’s flavor by releasing the natural fat and juices from the filling, resulting in a much richer taste.
- Red pepper flakes can easily burn when stir-frying, leading to bitterness; therefore, once the oil starts to bubble, quickly cook the ingredients and immediately turn off the heat.
