  • 2 slices of bread
  • margarine as needed
  • 3 slices of cheddar cheese

Recipe 🍳

  1. Prepare 2 slices of bread and spread margarine thinly and evenly on the outer sides that will touch the pan.
  2. Stack 3 slices of cheddar cheese on the unbuttered inner side of one bread slice.
  3. Place the other bread slice on top with the buttered side up, forming a sandwich.
  4. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and place the toast in the pan.
  5. Cover the pan with a lid (must be covered) and cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes to allow the cheese to melt efficiently and smoothly.
  6. After 3 minutes, open the lid, flip the toast, and adjust the heat if needed. Cook until the other side is golden brown.
  7. When the outside is crispy and the cheese inside is fully melted, turn off the heat. Cut the toast in half diagonally and serve on a plate.
  1. Spread margarine on the outer sides of bread and fill the inside with 3 slices of cheddar cheese.
  2. Place the toast in a pan heated over medium heat, cover with a lid, and cook for 3 minutes to melt the cheese.
  3. Flip and cook the other side until golden and crispy. Cut in half and serve.

Cooking tips 💡

  • Always cover the pan with a lid; the steam effect ensures the cheese inside melts completely before the bread burns.
  • Use an odd number of cheese slices (about 3) to achieve a savory flavor and a rich appearance when cut.
  • If the heat is too high, the margarine-coated bread surface can burn before the cheese melts, so keep the heat at medium or lower.
