Cooking tips
- If you don't have store-bought Pad Thai sauce, you can mix 1 tbsp tomato ketchup and 1 tbsp oligosaccharide in a 1:1 ratio for a sweet and sour taste similar to American franchise versions.
- If you stir-fry the rice noodles with other ingredients all at once, the noodles won't absorb the seasoning well and will taste bland. Therefore, it's important to first pour the sauce over the noodles and stir-fry them alone as if coating them.
- If you have leftover dried shrimp in your freezer, stir-fry them along with the other ingredients. They will blend with the Pad Thai sauce containing tamarind to create a deeper, more sophisticated Southeast Asian flavor.
- If you're craving a sweet and savory stir-fried noodle dish instead of Thai Pad Thai, you can substitute 2 tbsp of soy sauce for the Pad Thai sauce to transform it into a 'Pad See Ew' style dish.
