Cooking tips

  • If kkwarigochu and whole garlic are added at the beginning and boiled for a long time, they will lose their color and become too soft. Therefore, they must be added at the very end and cooked briefly for just 1 minute to preserve their aroma and texture.
  • The finished jangjorim soy sauce, mixed into warm rice with butter, makes an excellent one-bowl meal. If you prefer a saltier taste for mixing, increase the soy sauce ratio or reduce the sauce further.
  • For those living abroad or when kkwarigochu is hard to find, you can slice jalapeños or similar peppers to add a spicy kick.

Recommended for

  • Those who want to mix butter and jangjorim soy sauce into warm rice on days with no appetite.
  • Those looking for a hearty, popular home-style side dish that can be stored and eaten for a long time.
  • Those who love spicy-sweet braised eggs infused with the subtle aroma of kkwarigochu and whole garlic.
