Ingredients needed 🛒1 servings
- Tuna 1 can (small)
- Mayonnaise 3 tbsp
- Soy sauce 1 tsp
- Sugar 1 tsp
- Yellow mustard (or wasabi) 1 tsp
- Instant rice 1 packet
- Seaweed flakes as needed
Recipe 🍳
- Drain the oil from 1 can of tuna as much as possible (for a thick consistency) and place it in a bowl.
- Add 3 tbsp mayonnaise, 1 tsp soy sauce, and 1 tsp sugar to the tuna in that order.
- Add about 1 tsp of yellow mustard or wasabi from home.
- Mash the tuna completely with a spoon, stirring for a long time until the sauce becomes thick and dense.
- Microwave the instant rice for 2 minutes, then spread it flat and wide on a cutting board or large plate using a rice paddle.
- Pile the prepared tuna mayo sauce generously in the center of the spread rice.
- Flip the rice over to completely envelop the tuna mayo sauce, then press firmly with the rice paddle to shape it.
- Once it holds together, use your hands to shape it into a firm, round ball, then coat the outside evenly with seaweed flakes to finish.
- Mix tuna, mayonnaise, soy sauce, sugar, and yellow mustard to make a thick sauce.
- Spread the heated instant rice wide, place a generous amount of tuna mayo sauce in the center.
- Shape firmly into a ball, then coat the outside evenly with seaweed flakes.
Cooking tips 💡
- When shaping the rice ball, make sure the tuna mayo sauce is mixed to a non-runny, very thick and sticky consistency so it doesn't leak out.
- Adding a little yellow mustard or wasabi to the mayonnaise base cleans up the greasy taste, preventing it from becoming cloying.
- If you find rice sticking to your hands messy, wear disposable gloves or use plastic wrap underneath to shape the ball conveniently.
