Ingredients needed 🛒2 servings
- 1 can canned tuna
- 1 can canned corn
- Frying mix, as needed
- 1 egg
- Plenty of Parmesan cheese powder
- A little bit of the green part of scallions
- About 500ml cooking oil
Recipe 🍳
- Drain the canned tuna and corn completely in a sieve to remove oil and moisture. Press the corn with a paper towel to remove any remaining water.
- Select only the green parts of the scallions and thinly slice them for garnish.
- Pour about 500ml of cooking oil into a deep pan and preheat it to an appropriate temperature for frying.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the egg, frying mix, and Parmesan cheese powder. Add the drained tuna and corn, then mix to form the batter.
- While mixing the batter, lightly break up the tuna flakes with a spoon or similar utensil to ensure even distribution.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the preheated oil, roughly shaping them as you add them. Fry until golden brown.
- Transfer the crispy fried fritters to a colander with an open bottom to drain and allow moisture to escape.
- Place the finished fritters in a serving dish, sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese powder to taste, and garnish with the sliced scallions.
- Completely drain the tuna and corn, and thinly slice the scallions.
- Mix egg, frying mix, Parmesan cheese, tuna, and corn in a bowl to make the batter.
- Fry spoonfuls of the batter in hot oil until golden brown, then drain and top with scallions.
Cooking tips 💡
- Thoroughly removing moisture from the corn with a paper towel is crucial for safe cooking and to prevent oil splattering.
- Adding Parmesan cheese powder instead of salt to the batter provides a deep umami flavor and a savory taste.
- When draining the fritters, use a colander or cooling rack with an open bottom instead of a solid plate to allow moisture to escape and maintain crispiness.
- Adding chopped cilantro instead of scallions can provide a more exotic Southeast Asian flavor.
